Why Volunteer?
Community and Experience:
What you get out of volunteering depends heavily on what motivates you to volunteer, but we can ensure you that Film Festival volunteers gain insight into what it takes to run a non-profit film organization, a wider knowledge of film and the film industry, and in many cases, new skillsets that can translate directly into the workplace. Above all, we want every one of our volunteers to have fun and enjoy their experience.
Festival Vouchers:
In addition to joining a diverse community of fun people, supporting media arts, and participating in a significant community event, you will receive a voucher for each 3.5-hour shift you volunteer. Vouchers may be exchanged at any of the Festival box offices for a film screening of your choice.
Free Screenings:
Festival Volunteers have access to special free volunteer screenings prior to and throughout the International Film Festival.
Who Can Volunteer?
There’s an opportunity for almost everyone who shares our values and vision to volunteer at the Festival. We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for everyone who volunteers with us. We have volunteers of all ages, from all backgrounds, with a wide variety of skills, and with a broad spectrum of knowledge of the film industry. You don’t need to be a film buff to volunteer; you just need to want to be here!
How Much Time do I have to Give?
As much as you want! Though certain positions do require a minimum time commitment during the Festival. For every 3.5 hours of volunteer time, the Festival provides you with a volunteer ticket voucher, which may be exchanged at any of the Festival box offices for a film screening of your choice.

Please Note:
• Vouchers earned during a particular Festival can only be used to attend screenings during that Festival. For example, the 2013 International Film Festival vouchers can only be used for the 2013 International Film Festival.
• Vouchers can be used for or given to family and friends to attend festival screenings.
• Voucher redemption is based on seating availability - we cannot accept volunteer vouchers for screenings that are sold out or are nearing sellout status until ticket sales have ended for those screenings.
