Ushio and Noriko’s marriage has been under a lot of emotional and financial strain—basically for all 40 years of it—but only now is it at risk of completely falling apart. Cutie And The Boxer is a documentary about two artists: Ushio, a Dadaist whose work is well-received but makes little money, and his wife Noriko, a comic artist who’s been treated like an assistant for most of their marriage.
