Director Desmond Bell Attending!
Based on real events, director Desmond Bell’s newest film creatively mixes actual archival footage with narrative storytelling to make for a dramatic examination of Ireland’s neutrality during WWII. Frank Ryan (born Limerick 1902, died Dresden 1944) remains an enigma. The teenage IRA volunteer, dissident republican and Spanish International Brigade volunteer, ended his life working for the Nazis in wartime Berlin. Drawing upon Ryan’s letters and journalism, Bell has fashioned a film that sheds new light upon the enigma that was Frank Ryan.
