The Angels' Share, the new feature by acclaimed British director Ken Loach (The Wind That Shakes The Barley, Looking for Eric), will open the 2013 Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival - Thursday, April 11 at 7:30pm.
Loach's award-winning long-time screenwriting partner, Paul Laverty, is scheduled to attend.
This SPLASH! Screening will be followed by the Opening Night Party in Aster Cafe's new event space. Tickets for Opening Night are $50 General Admission / $40 Film Society Members.
A limited number of tickets will go on sale to Film Society Members only beginning Wednesday, March 13 at noon. Gold Pass holders may redeem their passes in person or over the phone beginning on March 13. Advanced ticket purchases are encouraged. This screening is expected to sell out.
In The Angels' Share, Loach 'expertly combines comedy with politics – and a drop of the hard stuff – in a warm, deftly-plotted heist movie' and bittersweet comedy about a Glasgow boy locked in a family feud who just wants a way out. The Angels' Share, a festival audience and critics' favorite, opened at and won the Jury Prize at Cannes 2012.
