Bradley Cox spent five years in Cambodia researching his debut documentary feature Who Killed Chea Vichea?.

In 1999, crying out for decent wages and safe working conditions, Cambodian workers were seeking someone to lead them. They found Chea Vichea. Despite numerous threats on his life, Vichea stood as the president of the Cambodian free trade union against the powerful garment companies. One morning five years later, as he was reading the paper, Vichea was gunned down in the street. Facing pressure from the international community, the crime was pegged on two men who gave a hasty confession. The quick resolution to the murder led many to believe in a cover-up that extended out of the justice system.

Cox’s unique first-hand look at the events presents unprecedented access to the events. The film won him the Directorial Discovery Award at the Rhode Island Film Festival.
