Director Ian Cheney Present May 3

Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis, co-creators and stars of the Peabody-winning PBS documentary King Corn, are back with their newest agricultural cinematic venture, Truck Farm.

In an attempt at self-sustainability in urban New York City, the truck farm (a garden planted in the bed of Ian’s grey Ford pickup) aims to provide a small-scale solution to finding affordable, fresh vegetables.  An exploration of urban agriculture around the world, Cheney and his musical accompaniment travel from rooftops fields to farming barges and everywhere in between, swapping soil recipes and tasting parsley with other urban farmers.

“I don’t want to ever make the claim that we are saving the world and ending hunger…but it is making it possible for people to learn much more about how plants work and how to grow their own food and building up our confidence about our ability to survive on our own.” - Britta Riley, The Window Farm Project

Truck Farmis a witty, charming, and earnest look at literally getting back to our roots and screens as part of The Film Society’s Sustainability Film Series more info at mspfilmsociety.org/sustainability
