This unique take on the late ‘80’s British playwright Andrea Dunbar is a haunting, experimental debut combining documentary archival footage and fictional re-enactments. On-location shooting in a rundown Yorkshire housing unit and lip-synching actors create an eerie and compelling work of cutting-edge "verbatim theater" on screen. Heralded by her contemporaries as “a genius straight from the slums,” Dunbar authored three plays before dying tragically of a brain hemorrhage at age 29 brought on by excessive drinking. The film is a compassionate tribute to a brilliant life cut short. Directed by Cleo Barnard, winner of Best New Documentary Filmmaker Award at the Tribeca Film Festival and Best British Newcomer at the London Film Festival.
