This viciously witty satire of artistic pretension should ring true for any fi lm fan who’s ever felt shafted a miserable moviegoing experience. After hot-headed junkyard worker ex-convict Tonny (Thomsen, The Celebration, Brothers) is turned away from a sold-out Harry Potter screening, he unwittingly takes his kids to see an obnoxiously artsy Danish movie.

Furious, Tonny, unimpressed, seeks out the fi lm’s insufferably snobbish director (Kaas, in a spot-on parody of Lars Von Trier, his director on The Idiots) to demand his money back. When a fortuitous chain of events puts the director in his debt, Tonny forces him to start work on an action-packed blockbuster sure to turn the arthouse scene on its head.

Actor/director Jensen and screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen (no relation) (Adam’s Apples, Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself) are frequent collaborators, sharing an Oscar nomination for their 1998 short Ernst & Lyset. “A witty take on moviedom and the clash between fi lms that are perceived as either art or trash… laughs and satire to entertain throughout.”

– Variety This film celebrates the centennial of Nordisk Films.
