Cruel grandmother takes charge until Lepel escapes and hides in a department store. He becomes friends with Pleun, who lives behind the sweaters. The kids get help from Max, a sales associate who pines for Ms. Broer, the store manager. Meanwhile, Grandma is trying to get Lepel back.
