Simple true stories told from children‘ s perspectives about their daily lives. While highlighting many cultural differences and travelling to  far reaches of the globe, these short docs demonstrate all that children have  in common in spite of them.

Ayla the Tsunami Girl

The Netherlands - 15 minutes


Ten year old Ayla from Holland was on vacation in Sri Lanka with her family and one of the many people caught in the 2004 Tsunami.  She is shy, so she tells her story of survival in her drawings, which are brought to life in

animation.

 

Olivia’s Puzzle

Director: Jason Da Silva

Canada - 12 minutes


Two seven year-old girls, Reshma and Olivia, are both of Indian heritage. Olivia lives in Canada and Reshma lives in Goa, India. The girls show and tell their daily routines, their favorite things, and their dreams. 

 

Twins of Mankala

Canada - 11 minutes


Twin eight year-old Kenyan girls live in Massachusetts while another lives in a small village in Kenya. Entering into the different worlds of the

children, we experience the parallel events of the girls’ days.

 

A Song for Daniel

Canada - 10 minutes


Two Iraqi boys - Ahmad lives in Baghdad and Daniel is born and raised in New York City. Another side by side slice of life portrait comparing culture and place of two nine year old  boys.

 

The Big Race

Directors: Liz Do

USA/Madagascar - 6 minutes


What do two boys in Madagascar do with a free day? With a tin can and a little imagination, Tulch and Noel successfully illustrate that you don’t need fancy toys or the latest technology to have some fun.
