Director: Martin Koolhoven Nordip Doenia is a talented student from a Moroccan family in Amsterdam. He is the pride of his family. He passed his final school exams with the kind of grades his fellow-pupils can only dream of. No wonder that Dad is already mapping out a bright future for his son – a degree in medicine and a subsequent career as a doctor. |
After all, the world is Nordip’s oyster. But, like many others of his age, Nordip (Dutch/Moroccan star Mimoun Oaïssa) doesn’t really know what he wants to do with his life. The only thing he knows for sure is that he definitely does not want to study medicine. For the time being he secretly gets a job in a restaurant washing dishes. It doesn’t take very long before the kitchen at “Schnitzel Paradise” turns into a multicultural war zone. But then Nordip meets the restaurant owner’s pretty niece, Agnes (sexy Bracha van Doesburgh, new European starlet) and finds out that they have much more in common than with anybody else. Will they give in or stick together? This deft comedy has broken all box office records in Holland. Cast: Mounir Valentyn, Barcha van Doesburgh, Mimoun Oaïssa, Yahya Gaier In Dutch & Arabic with English subtitles, Netherlands, 82 minutes, 2005, 35mm.
