Join us for this exclusive engagement to celebrate the opening of the 2007 Minneapolis/ St Paul International Film Festival along with special guest Danny Glover and his film, Bamako. Guests will experience Africa at its finest as African beers and wines along with light fare appetizers will nourish your body while William Atchouellou and Kôtou Danse Company (www.spiritdancemove.com) will nourish your soul. To celebrate the opening of Danny Glover’s film Bamako, Kôtou will perform a traditional dance that was created in Mali. “Lamba” is the dance of the Griots, a special group of West African historians, singers and musicians. The Griots are said to keep the history of the people in their heads, and pass traditions down orally. “Lamba” was created to honor the irreplaceable role that Griots play in most West African cultures. Kôtou will also perform “Tambour,” an energetic explosion of rhythm and dance featuring fierce female percussionists. Kôtou Danse brings the beauty and tradition of West African music and dance to the contemporary sensibilities of a global world for a true balance of body and soul. - Free beer or wine with ticket stub - Free light fare appetizers - African Dance and Drum performance 10:30-11:00 p.m. - Featured beer and wine specials all night - Tickets are limited to 200 attendees - Danny Glover scheduled to appear
